Yep Vegan Parmesan IS a thing! Now don’t expect it to taste like actual parmesan. Its made from nuts and seeds so it cannot taste like dairy BUT that doesn’t mean its not good!
In fact its more than good, its delicious, full of goodness and comes together in minutes. Sprinkle it over your pasta, soups, stews, sandwiches and salads for a little extra taste and texture. Or just spoon it straight out of the jar as I may have been known to on occasion. Like every time I pass by the fridge.
As well as being tasty its a good source of Vitamin B12, calcium, fibre and protein. Sesame seeds are said to lower blood pressure and cholesterol among other things AND these little babies toasted are what makes this vegan parmesan taste SO good in my opinion so go ahead and double up on them if you love them too.
Stored in an airtight jar in the fridge your vegan parmesan will stay fresh for weeks. Thats if you can keep your hands off it!
Non dairy condiment to liven up soups, stews, salads, sandwiches, veggie plates or just about anything!
- 50 g almonds with or without skins
- 15 g sesame seeds toasted
- 10 g nutritional yeast
- 10 g sunflower seeds
- 1/2 tsp salt
Pulse all the ingredients in your food processor / nutribullet / blender until you get the consistency you like.
THERMOMIX USERS: Blend all the ingredients in the thermomix for 5 sec speed 7.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge. It will stay fresh for several weeks.
